5 Ways Blogging Is Like Sex
3 min readThis post was an idea off BloggersCompete.com, a blogging contest site where Bloggers compete for money and promotion of their blogs. The site also help Advertisers engage with bloggers and expand their connections as they are looking for bloggers. I came across the site from a review and thought I would give it shot. If you like the post, spread the word and let’s see what happens.
One of the active contests out there was 5 Ways ___ is Like ____ and the topic was to be around blogging or the businesses around blogging. Here’s my entry.

5 Ways Blogging Is Like Sex
You need to find out who you want to do it with
Each person blogs for different reasons and for different people. You need to figure out who you want to blog for. Are you going to blog about your career, then you may have a blog for the professional. Do you want to have a blog about photography? Then you blog for photographers. You need to figure out what kind of people you like then you will know how to attract them more effectively.
You can’t rush into it
Blogging takes time, in some cases years to build a foundation of readers. You need people to keep coming back, you need to keep it fresh, you want the readers to want to come back and you want your readers to tell their friends about you. If you think you are going to be great the first time out, think again. It takes patience, practice, and attention to detail. If you rush into blogging then you will quickly get discouraged and disappointed.
Sometimes anticipation is the best part
As your blog grows and more readers find your unique techniques, the anticipation on what will happen next and where your blog can go just adds to the thrill. How many readers will see my next post? Who will retweet it? Where will my name show up next? How much revenue can I get? With so many possibilities and so many great outcomes you want to keep blogging to get more.
You can always buy it
Like with anything in life you can work hard at it and achieve great satisfaction or you can take the easy route and buy it. Blogging takes work and the more work you personally put into it the more rewards you can get out of it. There are services however that can you can buy to get you the presumed results of traffic, followers, retweets, and posts on other websites. Unfortunately those services are unfulfilling and empty.
Without love your blog will fall flat
You are blogging for you. Bloggers who do it for a living throw themselves at their blogs, they allow themselves to be consumed by it, and they put their heart and soul into it. They love their blog and the quality comes through in their posts. Without love your blog will become another ad filled, content less jumble of garbage and you will drive readers away instead of pull them in.

If you have a blog of your own head over to BloggersCompete.com and give one of their contests a shot. This is my first one and we will see how it works out.
End of Line.
