Pretty Lights new album A Color Map of the Sun shows that the Billboard Top Whatever is manufactured, canned, marketing crap for true talented music. Far from the formulatic, predictable pop songs Pretty Lights’s album A Color Map of the Sun is a wonderful refreshing collection of music from pure creativity. Pretty Lights would be considered electionic but this album’s mix of blues and jazzy guitar riffs, melodic vocals, and slick drums don’t make it sound like an electronic album. The album is a 2 ‘disc’ set the first is the album that has the electronic mix of the original vinyl pressed tracks they created themselves, the second disc are the original recordings untouched which is just as good as good stand alone.
I would say that thus far this is my favorite album of 2013 hands down. I would go as far to say that this tops Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories latest jazzy style album that Pretty Lights is comparable to but he wins out. Being that he is an indie, not commercial, artist you can get the album for free from his website – Pretty Lights Music. But I would recommend a purchase and support him, you won’t be disappointed.
I attached a video below about the making of this album and you can get an insight to the process that went into this album.
