GIECO Finally Got Online Marketing Right
2 min readOnline ads are everywhere, on pretty much every webpage we hit and most of them are terrible in their purpose. Why? Because most ads you can skip past in 7 seconds or less. Most of these ads aren’t made for websites, they spend their money on production. They try to build up to the climax of the product and by the time the brand, message, and image is shown you are long gone. I am not a marketing expert but I always wonder in the age of online advertising why these ads don’t blast the product first. Right up front, BAM!
Gieco has done just that. Now the ad is brilliant and one of the funniest ones I have seen in a long time and whether it was intentional or a tongue in cheek to the web ad world time will tell. But it served its purpose. You get the Geico name, the tagline, a cutesy scene and all within 7 seconds. The ad continues on for another 25 second but the message was delivered. You can see it below.
