A Story About Your Worth

2 min read

Inspiration comes in many forms, some more direct than others. Over the last few weeks, I have been cleaning up my archives and going through all the little stories, lists, quote collections that I have tucked away over the years. Many of the things I kept was bland or around a topic that has since passed.

There are also many that I will always keep and share as I find them still useful. The short story below is one of those.

A Father before he died said to his son: “This is a watch your grandfather gave and this is more than 200 years old, but before I give it to you go to the watch shop on the first street, and tell him I want to sell it, and see how much it is”.

He went and then came back to his Father, and said, “The watchmaker offered 5 dollars because it’s old”.

He said to him : “Go to the coffee shop”. He went and then came back, and said: “He offered $5 Father”.

He then said to him: “Go to the museum and show that watch”.

He went then came back, and said to his Father “They offered me a million dollars for this piece”.

The Father said:
“I wanted to let you know that the right place knows your worth and values it in a right way, don’t put yourself in the wrong place and get upset if you don’t. The one who understands your value appreciates you!”

If you want to have a good book with more stories similar to this one, although this one didn’t come from this book, I would recommend The Book Of Virtues by William J. Bennett.

End of line.
